- Lock the steering column while keeping the wheel pointed straight forward.
- Remove the steering column’s lower and upper trim covers. Now replace the lower Trim Cover on the Steering Column.
- Remove the lower trim pad cover from the instrument panel. Change the Lower Trim Pad Cover on the Instrument Panel.
- Remove the floor air exit duct on the left side. Please see the replacement of the floor Air Outlet Duct on – Left Side.
- As necessary, unplug any electrical connectors.
- Place match marks on the intermediate steering shaft (1) and the steering gear pinion shaft (3) with paint.
- Remove the lowest bolt on the intermediate steering shaft (2).
- Disconnect the steering gear pinion shaft and intermediate steering shaft.
- Assist the steering column to be stable.
- Remove bolts 1 and 2 from the steering column’s lower support bracket.
- Take off the nuts on the two steering column upper support brackets (1, 2).
- From the car, take off the steering column assembly (1).
- Transfer components as necessary.
